Enable Schoolswork Qualification & Course – Portsmouth Course

What is it? This course is the UK’s first ever stand-alone qualification for Christian work in Primary, Secondary and Further Education settings. It is about strengthening relationships in schools with accredited training from Edexcel, the UK’s largest awarding body.  Edexcel is the body that agrees and approves qualifications for those who work in schools across England. As a result, head teachers will be aware of them and recognise your ability to work appropriately and effectively within their school. We are calling this course ‘Enable: Schools Work’ and it is registered in the QCF (Qualifications and Curriculum Framework) as ‘Voluntary Work in Educational Settings. (Level 3). In the future we plan to introduce an additional programme of study at Diploma level. This further in-depth programme will be available to those who have already completed the Certificate. Who is it for? Any Christian working voluntarily in schools or colleges in the UK, which can include (but is not limited to) children’s and youth workers, ministers who visit schools to take assemblies/lessons, full time schools workers or volunteers.  Whether you have been working in education for a very short period of time, are yet to start or you have been visiting schools for years, the course is designed to stretch you and develop your knowledge and skills in working with children, young people and adults within education in a variety of ways. Portsmouth. Cosham Baptist Church is the venue in this city by the sea. April Owen-Jones, our newest tutor, has a wealth of experience in teaching across different age groups including adults. With plenty of schools work happening in and around Portsmouth and its neighbouring city Southampton we expect this centre to get booked up fast!
